Trae The Truth vs. The Box

In 2009 Trae Day (which former Mayor Bill White proclaimed this to be his day because of what he has done for the community of Houston) was held at the campus of Texas Southern University,(mind you this is a free event with a free concert, and free school supplies) and towards the end of the event a drive by occurred, and about 8 people were injured, but there were no fatal injuries. At the time of the shooting Trae him self was not there, by that time he was gone.
The next morning Trae did an exclusive interview with Nnete from 97.9 The Box about the shooting that took place, and my sources tells me that she was in fact blaming the shooting on him…(maybe because of the area it was in???…im guessing…), but my question is… When did Trae become a member of HPD??.Did I miss something?..and Trae can not control what others do, those were grown a*s men; she probably should have had them on the show instead…
Apparently him and Nnete exchanged a few words, then later he mentioned her in one of his songs (I haven’t heard the song) …But I’m guessing SHE did… Next thing you know any music by Trae was banned from being played on 97.9 The Box, they couldn’t even mention his name…Now I do understand that he probably disrespected her, and that in no way is right, but I also feel that she could have handled the situation better…
On April 21, 2010 after 10 plus years of being with 97.9 The Krackernuttz announced via twitter that they will no longer be working with Houston’s number one station for Hip Hop and R&B…
This is the reason: The Krackernuttz took a chance and played Chamillionaire’s “Won’t Let You Down” remix by which features legendary Houston rappers such as, Lil Keke, Z-RO, Slim Thugg, and of course TRAE…They took a chance that cost them their job…I grew up listening to the Krackernuttz, so it kind of broke my heart to hear that they will no longer be with 97.9 The Box…I was in total SHOCK…
I do understand rules are rules…and you should follow the rules of course (especially in a place of employment)…and they knew what the consequences would be if they went their, and they did, and they didn’t care…Because banning Trae Music in Houston, is like Hot 97 banning Jay-z’s music…Its like “How can Trae The Truth’s music get banned in HOUSTON?” really?…PLUS he has a lot of music with different artists, what about that?…Will they lose money?…
But my issue is (and I’m not this HUGE “Trae the Truth” fan, although I do listen to his music occasionally right is right, and wrong is wrong) this man has been doing great things for the Houston Community, especially the area he is from..(South West area)..and all this started from a shooting that DIDN’T involve him, that was out of his control…and really….if he was there…what could he have done..?? I think he probably would have hit the floor with everyone else…
That was a lose/lose situation cause either way it would have STILL been his fault…SMH…

The validity here is we have a station here in Houston (97.9) that doesn’t support local talent. The few that get a pass are closely related to personnel that work and/or represent the Box. This city is well aware that our talent level far exceeds Paul Wall. However, sadly enough the nation is not. Houston actually displayed the lowest level of talent at the recent VH1 Hip Hop Awards Show. Trae was gaining momentum and vastly becoming a talent for the city of Houston to be proud of. Those of us real DJ’s and industry insiders will continue to support the “real” talent in this city. Long time Houston recording artist Big Love we support your full length CD (H.B.O.) Houston’s Best Officially and the very strong outing on the newly released single “Sometimes”. We also acknowledge the skills of Magnificent aka Magno, and continue to support TRAE “THE TRUTH” in his musical ventures. Don’t stop what you’re doing guys, this city needs you more than you could possibly imagine. What we must do as a community is stop advertising “our” products and “our” events @ this station and make them as irrelevant as they make “our” artist. Tune off, if we are not tuned in advertising becomes worthless!
