Every day a star is born, and everyday one is taken away
(read at the funeral)
I am the older brother of Jonathan Allen Johnson. Note when I speak of my brother it will not be in past tense. Regardless of what I saw at that crime scene on twitter on the news or the internet my little brother is alive. He is here!
So no if you ask me, my last memory is not with him on the ground under a sheet, not even what I see here today.
I see Jon laughing, smiling, dancing downtown being goofy, painting, drawing, tattooing, talking to strangers, I hear him prank calling my phone, I hear him talking to God to people who didn’t want to hear it..
To me he is a brother, friend and confidant. Witty and talented, creative and never afraid to be different. The one to run to for protection and advice. For jokes and intellectual conversation. We compete at everything, pushing each other to be better. Never complacent with accomplishments and accolades.
There’s something within my brother and I that made us search for this constant degree of truth. He would get in trouble because of his mouth, not because he was a bad person, but because he wanted honesty out of everyone; in every word spoken and every action taken. He demanded it. He demand it to a point that he would get so passionate he was going to shout yell scream to get your attention so you could see how important it is.
Not long ago he and I had a discussion about life and death. All the struggles we faced and were currently facing and what we needed to do to fix things. Kind of depressed. We were talked about what would it be like if were weren’t here anymore. How many people would notice? Who would care and be hurt? He said that at his funeral he hoped it would be a joyous event. He wanted to be able to watch from above and see people dancing and singing and everyone getting along lovingly, no tears no pain and no suffering.
My brother stands for something. He came here to deliver a message. His delivery or timing my not be the way people always would like to receive it, but after he speaks you are going to hear him and learn something.
Well Jon, mission accomplished. You touched the lives of many and the hearts of all. You’ve help lay the foundation for change in the world and plant the seeds of fulfillment. Thank you for allowing us all the be a brick in your infrastructure and branch to your tree.
PEOPLE DONT DIE WHEN THEY FLESH IS LEFT MOTIONLESS. PEOPLE ARE DEAD WHEN THEIR MESSAGE IS NOT LONGER A RELEVANT MOVEMENT. and THAT is how I know that you forever live brother.
I love you lil bro
-Sean
