Fashion on the rise: Boxing Kitten

This clothing line is defiantly vintage inspired and has  playful colors of modern times. The designer Maya Lake was inspired by Josephine Baker and her mother Marion Lake. She She started designing at the age of 10 and her mother’s sewing brought the designs to life. Around the age of 15 she started flying solo with the sewing skills and making clothing for friends and family. Her small custom orders grew and she started selling out of boutiques. Her clients consist of Me”shell Ndgeocello, Erykah Badu, Christian Milian, DJ Rashida, Fergie, Solange, Beyonce, Fatima, and Jack of J*Davey. Her clothing has evolved from custom T shirts with bold images to powerful civil rights movement, African print inspired garments now known as Boxing Kitten.
