New World Record!!!

The world has been waiting for it and Today was the day.  The anticipated Olympic showdown that never happened.  America’s fastest man and 2nd fastest in the world Tyson Gay and the world’s fastest man Jamaican Usain Bolt (he set a new world record in the 2008 Olympics with a time of 9.69).

The two finally got to meet up at the World Championships in Berlin Germany for the 100m final.  The race also included the champion and former record holder Asafa Powell, Daniel Bailey, and other world class athletes.

Gay has been training hard for this race for a long time and before the race had recorded the fastest time in the 100 this season, running it in 9.77.

A new world record is born!  Usain Bolt has shattered his on record that he set in the 2008 Olympics with a amazing time of 9.58!!!  He already had records in both the 100 and 200m, and continues to get faster as he better utilizes his combination of a quick turnover and the stride of a 6’5 frame.  We are witnessing history people, Bolt is the by far the fastest man to ever touch a pair of spikes, and he is only 23 years old.

In addition to Bolt’s fantastic feat, Tyson Gay in valiant effort also put up a great time recording a 9.71 for second place, making him the fastest American in history.
