Amazing musical tribute to the life of Michael Jackson. BET AWARDS 09 host Jamie Foxx and Neyo sing their rendition of the Jackson 5′s “Ill be there”. Get your tissue paper ready. This performance touched the hearts of many. Much love to the fallen legend. A special big ups to BET for rearranging the entire award show in 3 days to commemorate The King of Pop’s tragic death.
They crashed this performance
Also the BET awards was the first we’d heard from Michael’s sister Janet Jackson since his passing. In a short yet heart felt speech, Janet explained that “To us Michael is an icon, but to the Jackson’s he is family. Although he is dead physically he will always live in our hearts.” Agreed Janet, just seeing her pain eyes was enough to draw tears from the masses. MJ’s death certainly will not go in vain. I can’t wait to see how the movie that they will be sure to make on Michael’s life turns out.

this was the only beautiful part of the whole thing. BET did not re-arrange this show for MJ at all…they hyped it up like they did, but all they did was leave 3 minutes at the end for Jamie and Neyo to sing. I have no problem with that, I do however HATE that BET used MJ for the ratings calling this a “Tribute” and saying they added an extra hour to honor him when they did not.
OMG, and to think CNN covered this…i can hear them laughing at us now
Dear BET,
Having Jamie Foxx wear the Thriller/Beat It jacket does NOT equal a tribute.
Thanks,

Aw c’mon you kinda hard on them don’t you think? They had absolutely no time to try to recreate a live show to complement the magnitude of MJ’s passing AND still stay on point with the rest of the night’s agenda.. and concise it around time restraints..
Very tough job. And yes it coulda been way better with more prep. But I wouldn’t say it was all that bad given the situation… be nice
I agree with eleven. I know they only had 3 days but I feel as though more could’ve been done. For the most the show went on as normal except for a few people dressing up like MJ. The ending was beautiful. Great way to help me get over that outrageous performance with Drake and Weezy – they should be ashamed for having those children on stage during that mess. BET had the world watching yesterday only to be left in disappointment.
What part of the show did they “arrange for MJ”? The whole show look like it’s been put together in 4 days, WITHOUT MJ. It’s not an award show, it was the Jamie Foxx’s variety show.
Even with the good artists they had who were prepared, BET wasn’t. It was like a cheap production. Mics get cut off, censors missing words, Beyoncé doing an unusual number for an audience that wasn’t ready for it, and using MJ’s name all over the place.
They could have just done a 15-20 minute tribute like the 45 minute tribute they did for the O’Jays. Short, sweet, simple.
They over promised and under delivered. The bar wasn’t even high for me, it was quite low and they couldn’t even pass that bar.
There’s so many things wrong with that variety show that I don’t know where to being. The whole channel was a failure, period.
