Chad thumbs up

Yellow Mohawks, Gold Grills instead of Mouth Pieces, Fined for numerous touch down and play celebrations, End Zone dances, and Classic Interviews have followed the NFL All Pro who is this article’s subject of choice.

DO NOT refer to #85, Cincinnati Bengals superstar wide receiver as Chad Johnson anymore.  Its is officially Chad Ocho Cinco.. no seriously.

In an interview on October 25, 2006, Chad stated that in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month that he would prefer to be called “Ocho Cinco” (“8-5″ in Spanish, even though 85 actually really reads as “ochenta y cinco” in Spanish lol).  To follow this funny antic, during warm-ups for a October 29, 2006 game against the Atlanta Falcons, the back of Chad’s jersey read as “Ocho Cinco” instead of the normal “C. Johnson”. Later he was fined $5,000 for the stunt even though he didn’t wear the tag on his actual game jersey.

To combat this, on August 29, 2008 Chad legally changed his name to Chad Javon Ochocinco. He continued to wear his traditional C. Johnson” jersey during the season though due to financial obligations with his sponsor Reebok.  He will for the 2009 and remaining season play with “Ochocinco” on the back of his jersey. WOW

In the media again because of poor performance last year.  At that time he wanted to be traded from the Bengals BAD, and when that did not happen he pretty much gave up on his team.  The colorful player now intends to follow up that season (which included some of the worst numbers in catches and yards the All Pro receiver he’s had years) by releasing his 2009 – 10 predictions.  He was quoted to “Guarantee” the Bengals make the playoffs this year. He went on the say that  he plans to stay with quarterback Carson Palmer’s family in July to make up for the lost time and rebuild their comradarie.  This is his commentary on doing so,
“We do argue all the time like a married couple,” he said. “I think that’s why we’ve been so successful together, because we have that type of relationship we can get on one another.” Palmer denied the request after talks with his wife.

chad dont fine me

Chad, Ochocinco, whatever his name is.. dude is a BEAST at wide out whenever his head is in the game.  Unfortunate situation for the Bengals right now as they lost fellow great Pro Bowl reciever TJ Houshmandzadeh in the off season.  Now ALL the pressure is on the back of #85.  I hate that the NFL puts so much into fining players who do the often hilarious celebrations that Chad is notorious for making.  I read somewhere that the “no excessive celebration” rule that was created is dedicated to him. HATERS. BTW Ochocinco is blood cousin of current NFL cornerback Samari Rolle and NFL superbowl champion, former wide receiver, and current analyist Keyshawn Johnson.  Chad is going to have a role in the new HBO television series entitled “Hard Knocks”, this should be interesting.

here an example of his take on the “New School” type of play (celebrations and  trash talk)

(Sighs)….okay, I think the whole name change was cute at the beginning, but he’s taking this a LITTLE too far. I’m glad you posted this under the comedy genre as well because that’s just what it is….comedy! Is he just doing this to get back at the NFL for fining him when he came out with “Ocho Cinco” on his jersey during the regular season? Like “Ha! Now you can’t fine me anymore!” LOL. He’s definitely talented though…still one of the best wide receivers out there now. I remember when he played for Oregon State and thinking “this dude HAS to get signed.” The funny thing is that I read somewhere that he wanted his jersey to read “Ocho Cinco” but the NFL will only allow his jersey to hold his legal name, as spelled on his name change paperwork, so his jersey will read “Ochocinco”…..COMEDY! LOL

Yea dude is a beast.. and its true Mariah he did forget the space when he filed the name change.. so it will show as one word.. lol oops.. he does to much to add unneccessary locker room attention. Reminds me a lot of Willie Beamen. I don’t think the Bengals are going to be good without TJ this year, they didn’t replace him.. and their running game and defensive has always been horrible. Chad will most likely just be a comic relief for fans

Yep Mariah….he had a jersey that read Ocho Cinco and the NFL banned it stating it was listed as Ochocinco on legal documents. And even if he got it changed it would not be effective till next season…LOL! So he has to play wit it saying Ochocinco for at least dis year…So looks like the NFL got one up on dis cat
