Details on the Holocaust Museum Shooter

More info on the Washington DC Holocaust Museum Shooter. The 88-year-old gunman, James Von Brunn ran into the US Holocaust Memorial Museum on Wednesday and opened fire with a .22-caliber rifle, fatally wounding African American security guard, Stephen Jones. After shooting into the crowd of people (which included groups of schoolchildren and tourist), Von Brunn was shot in retaliation by remaining guards before being apprehended by police officials.

Washington Police Chief Cathy Lanier says “The second he stepped into the building he began firing”. When captured, it was also found that Von Brunn possessed a list of lawmakers on Capitol Hill. The intentions that he had for the people on that list are unconfirmed.

What is confirmed is that the shooter, James Von Brunn, is a known white supremacist and  violent anti-Semitic. Here’s proof:

*In 1983 he was sentenced to more than four years in prison for attempted armed kidnapping and other Federal assault charges.  He was caught trying kidnap members of the Federal Reserve Board carrying carrying a revolver, knife and sawed-off shotgun. Despite the the weapons found in his bag, Von Brunn insisted he was trying to place the board under “legal, non-violent citizens-arrest.”   Police reports state that Von Brunn wanted to take members hostage because of high interest rates and the nation’s economic difficulties.

*Von Brunn (also an author) wrote an anti-Semitic publication entitled “Kill the Best Gentiles,” that he said he could not get published.  In it, he protests “the browning of America” and claims hope to somehow to expose the Jewish conspiracy “to destroy the White gene-pool.” He also writes “The ‘Holocaust’ Religion is destroying Western Civilization.”  The book is dedicated to prominent neo-Nazis and racists including Revilo Oliver and Wilmot Robertson.

*James is owner and writer for holywesternempire.org, which in 2008 was listed as a hate site by the Southern Poverty Law Center for its blatant fulmination against Jews and race other than White. Von Brunn also has an extensive history of associations with prominent neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers.

*Acquaintances report that Von Brunn thought his Social Security benefits had been cut as a direct result of government officials tracking his activity as a White Supremacists.  This notion is what lead to his shooting attack

Von Brunn’s demented mind has created numerous deranged quotes and posted them in various places:

-”Life and Death are opposite sides of the same coin. Fate flips the coin.”

-”Things to be proud of often involve high risk. You can’t hide from death. It always finds you.”

-”It’s better to be strong than right — unless you like dying. Crowds hate good guys.”

-At the White House, just blocks away from the museum, President Barack Obama said: “This outrageous act reminds us that we must remain vigilant against anti-Semitism and prejudice in all its forms. No American institution is more important to this effort than the Holocaust Museum, and no act of violence will diminish our determination to honor those who were lost by building a more peaceful and tolerant world

I am sincerely disgusted but not at all surprised by this occurrence.  If you have not noticed, this attack is maybe the the 4th reported political or ethnic based crime in the past few weeks.

-23-year-old Army private, William Andrew Long, was shot and killed earlier this month in Arkansas with a fellow soldier wounded. The suspect, a Muslim convert, considered the killing justified because of the prevailing presence of U.S. military presence in the Middle East.

-Late last month, abortion provider Dr. George Tiller was shot to death in his church.

-Also late last month four men were apprehended for allegedly plotting to blow up synagogues and shoot down planes

I don’t know what has to happen to stop these type of acts of violence.  I honestly feel that many people have their own thoughts and feelings and that there may be no man-made fix to man-made hate.  I read some statistical data somewhere that after the induction of our first black President, numbers of members in White Supremacy and Hate groups have increased by the tens of thousands.  You see here examples of death threats Obama receives.
