To Tweet or Not To Tweet

Anyone who knows anything about anything knows Twitter!
Its the hottest crave in social networking, a short synopsis of what the site is would probably be a means to link Hollywood celebs, bloggers, and amateur media socialites to one another. As of today, the site’s traffic growth accelerating my the millions and it is currently America’s 38th biggest website.. In addition to the normal features on a social media site, twitter offers unique functionality such as Retweeting (RT) Direct messaging (DM), searching using hash tags (#), favorites, and the ability to follow people you are interested in keeping up with. There is also the option to insert photos called “Twitpics” (twitpic.com), post links, and “@ reply” all visible posts. In addition to the regular features there are desktop apps, text apps, phone apps, office use apps, and automated services (for more on Twitter usage and services, check out my post here ).
The twitter revolution is definitely a must have for all the Who’s Who, regardless of the industry or purpose for logging in. So while Tweeting and admiring the popularity of the site, a very interesting question came to mind.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO PEOPLE LOOK FOR WHEN OPTING TO FOLLOW SOMEONE??
Its obvious that different people all have their different reasons. Some are business owners looking to market their product/service to the general public and network with their peer. Some are celebs who want to be able to interact with fans. Some are “starving artists” (models, producers, etc etc) looking for leads to become the “Next Big Thing” in their prospective industry. And there are the select few who just use twitter to be apart of the hype and has constant contact with friends. That answer is a given, but I was interested to get a more direct answer the the question so I put up a tweet of my own:
“What things do you look for when deciding who to follow?”
Here are a few responses:
REALCharmBreeZy@onehunnidt i gotta know em personally or got business wit em..
random_id@awkWORDsilence Good question…I look to see if they update often no need to waste a follow on someone who is never on
. also If they are someone I can network with/share info
mookiejaeonline@onehunnidt I look for what the person is usually talking about..whether it’s upcoming events, updates on certain products, albums, etc.
GoldiaE@onehunnidt if there hot with entertaining twits!
eleven8@onehunnidt what we have in common, i look thru their tweets 2 see if their psycho lol, see wat friends we have in common and i see if they spark my interest or respond to things i say. if i followed everybody who followed me i could never keep up
hidefalicious@onehunnidt gossip…..lmao! i do look at their convo’s but mostly look for connections for me to network with for modeling.
Whatever the reason, Twitter is here and although in heavy competition with Myspace and Facebook, is at the forefront of screens for millions worldwide. And we have ALL become addicted!!!!
