Get more out of Twitter

Everyone has a Twitter.. point taken. Question of the day is: What can I do to maximize on my Twitter usage?

Aside from the instant thrill that is getting the entire world addicted one twit at a time there are the additions of integration using Facebook and blog sites using corresponding widgets, the availability to update and check replies using smart phones and SMS text messages, and the ability to Twit quickly from your computer using the popular Tweet Deck, Twitterrific (MAC) and other desktop applications.  Here are some more ways and tools that you can use to Tweet with the best of them!

Desktop Apps
Try using a desktop (or laptop) client instead of having to use the tradition browser window. Clients make twitting more like using an Instant Messenger program.

Windows users: Digsby – puts Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and all of your e-mail accounts in a single window

Mac users: Twitterrific, which visual look resembles Apple’s slick Aperture photo editor.

If you’d rather it cover your screen than in a small window try TweetDeck which that runs on both PCs and Macs. It breaks out multiple columns for all tweets and  column for those of friends. It also has more features like photo TwitPic photo upload, a Facebook tie-in, and stock market tweets.”

Phone apps
Twitter clients for smart phones are also faster ways to reveiew, post, and DM without having to use the web browers. To name a few there are TwitterBerry for BlackBerry, Tweetie for iPhones, and Twidroid for G1 Android phones.

More phone uses

TweetCall is a voice-recognition system that takes calls to 1-877-TWEETCALL from your phone, converts your spoken words to text, then tweets the result through your account.   Amazing concept.  The company also claims that soons, the system will have many more Twitter compatibility features including support for user names and hash tags”

In the office
Spreadtweet is a desktop app that is designed to look like an Excel spreadsheet. Lol employers and co-workers who don’t look too closely won’t even realize that your “spreadsheet’s” rows are actually tweets!

OutTwit is a application that adds Twitter support into Microsoft Outlook. You can send and read tweets from inside Outlook, and then archive, group and search them as if they were actual e-mail messages.

I haven’t tried a lot of these gadgets but they seem very interesting.. The amount of availability created to make Twitter more convenient indicates that the worldwide craze isn’t going anywhere soon!
