NFL Bad Boys Part 1 Plaxico Burress
More on the three latest “NFL Bad Boys” Plaxico Burress, Michael Vick, and Donte Stallworth regarding federal court cases and possible reinstatement to the NFL.
Part 1 Plaxico Burress
Plaxico Burress’ would like to have his most memorable image remain as the one the the far left. The picture of him celebrating after catching the game winning touch down that gave the New York Giants the win for Superbowl XLII. Instead we have been seeing more of the reciever in nice suits and dress shoes. Burress faces two charges for second degree criminal possession of a weapon, which is a Class C felony that prohibits the possession of a loaded gun without a proper license outside the home or place of business. Last November Plaxico shot himself in the leg while carrying his glock in his pants pocket at a club.
His court case has been pushed trial until Sept. 23 which gives opportunity for the 31-year-old free agent to sign with an NFL team. Under the personnel conduct policy of the NFL, commissioner Roger Goodell can sanction any player whose conduct is determined to be “detrimental” to the league. Note that “detrimental” is a term determined by the commissioner, meaning that Goodell has the final say-so of whether or not Burress can return to play football, AND he does not need a conviction, guilty plea, or even arrest to make that decision in any case.
Plaxico’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, on Twitter stated: “We are … confident that the NFL will not have grounds to discipline Plex until after the adjudication of his case.”
If convicted, Burress would face a minimum of three and a half years and a maximum of 15 years in prison. Unfortunately for Burress, the law is premised on strict liability (his intent, purpose and justification for carrying the gun are irrelevant).
Former Giants QB Tim Hasselbeck had this to say, “I played with the guy. I was in the locker room with him for two years. He’s a disaster as a teammate. He’s a disaster as a guy that you have to coach.”

Damn Plex.. I still haven’t heard anything in regards to what you were planning to do with the gun.. Had Plex at the club? Thugs should learn how to use the safety! Be glad that you are still able to run after shooting yourself in the leg (or walk for that matter). I am a fan of your talent aside from all of the antics you bring behind the scenes. I’m sure the Giants won’t resign you because they did great without you last year and you are too expensive. Hope this isn’t the end of your career.
